Fluff Interviews Arthur About Chinese Year of the Dog

We are conducting an exciting experiment: interviewing a celebrity online, using our comments section! Today, we wish to interview Arthur, the online literary sensation, about the Chinese Year of the Dog.
Hello, everyone. You have probably seen my gorgeous face on this blog, both with the inept cartoons of the human that is my personal slave and from equally inept photographs which will do, for now. I do consider changing slaves but feel a sense of responsibility for the one I own right now and I realize, good slaves are hard to find. Arthur, I want to introduce you to a possible fiance, for the Year of the Dog is, according to the Chinese, a good year to get hitched.

And I want to get rid of this dumb dog, so perhaps we can work out a deal. Matchmaker, matchmaker, make me a match, marry a dog and go down the hatch!

Wow, Fluff, you really do care about me! I thought, when you swipe at my nose when sitting on my beloved owner's lap, you didn't like me all that much!
(Examining the super sharp claws, critically) I think I better go to the office door and give my claws a good workout. Obviously, they aren't sharp enough.

Look, DOOOOG, I have to think of everything around here including YOU. *shudder* You are so friendly and anxious to please, it makes me positively ill. The grand art of the cold shoulder, the imperious glance, the refusal to move out of a slave's chair when they want to sit down, no wonder dogs are slaves of humans. Well.

Today, we wish to negotiate with Arthur who seems to be an up and coming best selling author and who is, according to my spies in his own house, a bachelor, too. We have a picture of him already for this interview and want to chat with him below in the comments section. We will then move the chat here and illustrate it with the assistance of my personal slave, Elaine, if she doesn't flub things as usual.

My agent said this would happen. It all happened because Xlibris invited me to give them some money so I could publish my work. It is true. I received an email. I wrote about it at my blog.

Oh. Usually I do not talk directly to cats unless they can do something for me. But Fluff, you seem to have some impressive connections, so I will talk to you. I am a confirmed bachelor, though. Management saw to that. Special surgery and all. That is why I have a lot of bonhomie. I do not chase girls or cars.

This is the Year of the Dog. I know, it is a black year for us cats, but my slave's daughter is getting married this year to someone who is Chinese and so I suppose it is all OK but her cats told me, she should have waited for the Year of the Tiger, instead.

I am sorry to hear about your operation (HAHAHA) but then, there are already too many dogs here, anyways.

Are you planning any special celebrations or whatnot like fireworks tonight?
Fireworks are out of the question. Even though I am a true (Welsh) American, I do not like them, even on the Fourth of July. It's really windy here in the heartland, and we would not want to catch someone's house on fire, like ours for example. Maybe we will have Chinese takeout. I like crispy wonton and Moo goo gai pan or really anything, except those little red peppers. Our favorite Chinese restaurant of all time was called Pig Heaven on the Upper West Side. We have Chan's Garden here. Judy is the owner from Singapore. She is nice, but dogs can't come inside because liberals made a stupid law.

I HATE red peppers. Even old Fluff hates them. We do LOVE Chinese take-out and firmly believe all dogs, when they die, go to a giant "All You Can Eat Chinese Buffet" in Heaven! I love finger-food.

Does your owner let you bury bones? Mine does, so long as it isn't in the peony flower patch by her office window.

(I grew up around loud bangs from guns so fireworks aren't a problem)

Also, I heard they let dogs eat out in Paris. Have you ever considered moving there?

I like girl dogs and all. It's just - well, you know. I have a young friend, Tigger, who you might like, but his people are nuts. Always check out the people before making a commitment.

Yes, I can bury anything I want. Once I helped to bury a cat. His name was Vinnie. Actually, I helped plant tulips bulbs on his grave. My face got a little dirty, and my "owner" gave me a bath.

Akamaru, you have to get over this "owner" business. I have been around a long time. It's fine to pretend to sit and settle and stay, but in your own mind, you have to say to yourself, "Akamaru, YOU are the master."

Peonys are very nice. Tasha Tudor has peonys. And she has Corgis, so anything Tasha Tudor has is A-OK with me.

I know how you can get a buffet before you go to heaven, but you have to get Fluff in on the caper. Maybe we shouldn't talk about it online.

Unless I could hitch a ride with Barney Bush or some other rich dog who does not have to ride in the cargo hold, I would not go to Paris.

The French humans are ahead of the ones here, it sounds like to me. I like eclairs. And French Fries.

Hissss. What are you, Arthur, some sort of REVOLUTIONARY? Commie dog? First you talk about burying cats, you Khruschev, you, then you suggest the dog here go off on a power trip?

Problem with France is, you got to speak French. I can't. Fluff can, but then, he is multilingual since he seems to use his eyes to talk, some sort of hypnotism.

I stare at humans and end up looking sad.

If you would read my blog, you would know that I am a conservative.

Like most bi-peds who call themselves conservatives, I just take what I want and then have my lawyer handle it. Or I pay a Congress person to change a law so I can do whatever I want.

My mistress often tells me, Bush is a chimp. I heard on the news yestserday that there are even fewer genetic differences between chimps and humans than previously thought.

So I guess, this means eventually, humans are regressing? Looks like it from here.
Yeah, here we are, breeding leading to us being more and more superior while humans regress.

See? The Cat Plan Of World Domination is working.

Humans think they are the New World Order. Maybe it is time for us cats and you dogs to join forces and maybe even bring in Sparky, he is plenty smart and pretty big, too.

I'm sure I will get rich with my blog and newsletter. I could hire you to fetch snacks. I can pay bills online or get my lawyer to sue everyone so we don't have to pay any bills ever.

Akamaru, as you know I am a conservative. We are supposed to like Bush. Barney looks tense to me. Do you think he is trying to tell us something? Bush said he would get the terrorists. My human says Bush is a terrorist. I wonder if Dick Chain-ee spied on Bush.
Bush dropped Barney on his head, nearly killing him.

Jaywalking During the Nixon Era Continued:

Many Americans are being told that the Patriot Act is a new thing. I want everyone to know, it is old hat for GOP Presidents to misuse the law, ignore the Constitution and to abuse power. Unlike so many left leaning blogs, I don't just want to talk about all this but figure, why now illustrate how it worked in the past. Fighting for freedom isn't easy and it involves real, pitched battles as the Chinese and Korean peasant farmers can attest this very day. We are always in a struggle for truth and freedom which is why our oppressors like to hijack that language and pretend murdering civilians is bringing power to them.

It turned into a full scale riot. We had the police shoot so much tear gas at us this year that we would sniff it and say, "Ah, this is better than nose spray!" We became rather immune to the smell of tear gas.

But while locked in the paddy wagon, I began to worry, what if it is set on fire? That would really make me unhappy. Luckily, this didn't happen. It struck me as odd that not one person was put in the van with me. I didn't know it was because the cops couldn't get near enough to put anyone in and were actually running from the scene of the actions. This is how, after shooting at us at People's Park which was a peaceful demonstration until the police refused to let anyone go down Telegraph Avenue.

I was in my own, private cell, even. They put everyone else in crowded cells but not me. This was tremendously boring. People were laughing and singing in the other cells on other levels and I could faintly hear them. After midnight, my future husband, David, and some of my friends bailed me out. It was now very cold and foggy outside but I one of the guys gave me a jacket.

In the jail, the police threatened to hit me with "inciting a riot" charges but they evidently gave up on that since there were just too many witnesses to my calls for calm before and during the riot. They did hold this against me for I was blamed later for a riot I didn't even know had happened!

The obvious point is, the arrest should have never happened. And living in a police state that is not accepted by the populace always leads to blow-ups like we used to have at Berkeley and in other parts of America.

Today, the country is quiet but it isn't because all is well, it is because it is the quiet before a storm. The petty concerns of the right, worried about my sex life or your intimate relations, worried about "Merry Christmas" and the Easter Bunny, these people want us to ignore the destruction of America as they cooperate with power hungry creeps who are the spawn or worked for Nixon and his gang.

The candidate for the Supreme Court is one of these puppies, Alito, a far right wing religious nut who doesn't give a fig about the Constitution or my civil rights, he is happy to take control of my body just like the police wanted to control us back under Nixon. We wrestled for our rights, our freedoms and we paid in blood, sometimes.

And here we are, in a similar situation. It is important for us all to resist the powers of the state and to encourage everyone to support our Constitution and to fix our elections so they reflect the will of the people and we must waken our right wing fellow citizens from their childish dreams: there is no Santa Claus, no Easter Bunny. Life is serious. There is a storm about to break and building beach houses without any flood insurance=disaster.

Today is Like, So Like it Was in 1969

Only cartoons can really tell what happened in the past and what it means today. The culture wars we started in the Summer of Love continue to reverberate in funny and awful ways. So let us time travel together to those halcylon days of yore.

This cartoon will take quite a few hours to do so stay tuned for each episode. It is a LOOOONG story, all 100% true.

This is the year I nearly died several times. Some rather strange things happened, not all of them pleasant.

When I was Shanghaied by a motorcycle gang that was fueding with the Hell's Angels, it got rather dicey. They were going to kill me until they got hungry on the road. One of them ran over a rabbit and I cheerfully gutted it with one of their switchknives, skinned it and cooked it on a makeshift cooking range I rigged out of rocks and some metal. They were so impressed, the asked me to show other skills. This pleased them until they discovered my hidden skills.

The Oakland Tact Squad were the super mean guys. They loved to beat up hippies. And yes, one did, after meeting me on the street and trying to clobber me, came to my pad to ask for a date! Worse, I accepted! It was really funny. He wanted me to marry him.

Gads. No way in hell.

A nonviolent artist who was the typical laid-back person who I had met only once before this happened, heard the guns going off during the People's Park police riot and opened the door, hearing his neighbors screaming outside, and was shot dead center in the face and lost both eyes. Not too long afterwards, his baby girl died. A tragedy. I couldn't believe Reagan decided to kill us. But he did and at that point, we lost all ability to call the police for help. They were out to destroy us. If someone attacked us, the police would stand aside and let them do their worst. This is when I formed my first street patrol to protect people especially after the minister who let us use his church for meetings and such was badly beaten in a back alley by the police one night.

I saw my childhood friend from Tucson, John Damon, across the street unexpectedly. I yelled to him, but he didn't hear me over the street noise so I decided to jaywalk over and snag him only I was snagged. At long last, the police had an excuse to arrest me. Odd, going to jail for jaywalking. Unheard of, actually, except in a police state. But getting me to jail hit some serious snags!

A fellow teen, a street kid named "Sinbad" decided to save me. He succeeded in slashing at least one tire. This ticked off the police who couldn't drive away from the growing crowd so they called in more troops. They arrived with a paddy wagon and threw me unceremoniously inside. I told the crowd, as I was being tossed, to make room for them to drive me off, it was OK. But then things grew truly ugly.

AWOL Bush and Deferment Cheney Celebrate Vets' Day

Bush and Cheney chickened out of the Vietnam war but both men love to visit the graves of those who went instead of them. I suppose this gives them real satisfaction to see how much better off cowards are. Why vets cheer these two slackers mystifies me. But then, Bush voters always mystify me.

Newly Released Emails Show Brownie Was Worried About Fashion Rather than Hurricane

Brown's emails during the hurricane were released today. Most deal with him fretting about his fashion statements and how he looked on TV! Arrest him, arrest his second in command, Cindy Taylor, arrest Bush. Make Condi walk barefoot.

A House panel has released 23 pages of internal e-mail offering additional evidence of a confused and distracted government response to Katrina, particularly from Brown, the former head of Federal Emergency Management Agency, at critical moments after the storm hit.

The e-mails show that Brown, who had been planning to step down from his post when the storm hit, was preoccupied with his image on television even as one of the first FEMA officials to arrive in New Orleans, Marty Bahamonde, was reporting a crisis situation of increasing chaos to FEMA officials.

"My eyes must certainly be deceiving me. You look fabulous — and I'm not talking the makeup," writes Cindy Taylor, FEMA's deputy director of public affairs to Brown on 7:10 a.m. local time on Aug. 29.

"I got it at Nordstroms," Brown writes back. "Are you proud of me? Can I quit now? Can I go home?" An hour later, Brown adds: "If you'll look at my lovely FEMA attire, you'll really vomit. I am a fashion god."

A week later, Brown's aide, Sharon Worthy, reminds him to pay heed to his image on TV. "In this crises and on TV you just need to look more hardworking ... ROLL UP THE SLEEVES!" Worthy wrote, noting that even President Bush "rolled his sleeves to just below the elbow."

All Bush photo-ops are faked. He is a clothes horse's ass, the naked emperor who puts on fashion shows while people die.

Of course, his close courtiers do the same. Shop until you drop, or rather, until your citizens drop dead.

Halloween Fun on my Mountain

I took this picture today at sunrise. When I downloaded it, look at what appeared! And this is at daybreak, not at night! Tonight, it will be mostly clear and I hope to see Mars. Last night, it was as orange as a pumpkin thanks to the dust storms there. I wonder if the Mars Rovers are OK? I know that dust storms ruined at least one car of mine in Arizona, years ago.

Here in upstate NY, we have snow storms and the cars rust a lot thanks to that. I suppose, it is worse, in that regard, here.

Enjoy your Halloween, everyone, and keep the candy bowl wells stocked! On our mountain, we get no trick or treaters. The hike is long and steep and very dark and the oak and maples lining the road makes it look inviting only if you are Jack the Ripper, a werewolf or Karl Rove.

I'll tell the dogs to keep vigilant.

Sony has a little message for portable game fanatics, so since I know one such....here it is...
From Macworld:

PlayStation Portable users looking to modify their gaming system so it can run software that has not been approved by Sony Corp. may find themselves running nothing at all. Ever.

According to researchers at security vendor Symantec Corp. a new Trojan program, called, Trojan.PSPBrick, has begun circulating on online gaming sites. Once installed, the software will delete important system files in version 2.0 of the PlayStation Portable’s firmware, turning the hand-held games into inoperable machines, called “bricks” by gamers.

The Trojan masquerades as a nifty software hack that can be used to disable the PlayStation Portable’s software protection mechanism, said Dean Turner, senior manager with Symantec’s Security Response team. “Once a user installs that Trojan, it deletes four critical files from the machine and a message comes up that says, ‘Your PSP 2.0 is hacked, please reboot.’”

Without the system files, however, the PlayStations simply cannot be restarted, he said.

Of course, this little news tidbit is for someone I see rather frequently. All the kids who own these systems like to fiddle with them and some people take cynical advantage of this so this is an alert concerning such hackware.

Proprietary businesses are also making it harder to fiddle with things which always is a problem, this anti-open source impulse. Unlike many of us adults who are leery of even clicking on simple stuff, our kids are computer players who like to mess with it and change things around, a restless and I think, a good thing, this desire to play with things and alter them is a sign of intelligence and liveliness which is much better than passive receptionistic lifestyles.

Tinkering lies very close to the heart of being a technological power. Cut this off and the limbs used for creation wither and die.

Symantec rates the attack a Category 1 threat, its least serious rating. The company has heard of no confirmed cases of PlayStation Portables being taken down with the software, Turner said.

Heh. Not an orange alert, a measly green alert?

It is amusing that Google picked this out to feature today. So I might as well relay it if for no other reason than to amuse someone close by.

JAUNDICED EYE ON STUPID GUY

Welcome to "Jaundiced Eye on a Stupid Guy." I am Zangetsu, one of the stars of the Japanese anime, "Bleach". We have brought together a panel of cast members of that great show, all members of high status in the Soul Society, Heaven's answer to out of control demons.

Since we live at the Gates of Death, we certainly can sit in judgement on the living. Today's subject is the "leader of the free world", a man with a notorious past, bloody desires, psychotic behaviors, and worst of all, he can't comport himself at a level above that of a poorly trained, ill tempered chimpanzee.

As the best drunk in Soul Society, I can assure you that one can look great, dress fetchingly and pick up hot chicks while fighting demons, all while soaked to the gills. There is some talent involved in this, of course.

You drunken sot. No aristocrat would be caught dead, dressed like you, sober or drunk. And the ladies run from you, too.

Since I am merely the incarnation of the Death Dealing Sword of Justice, so to speak, I have no idea about drunks chasing females. We are here to talk about why America produces some of the most pathetic specimens of leadership and how we can change this.

Dude, all the politicos look and act lame. I can't see any interesting human leaders.

Hitler was big about designing interesting fascist uniforms and symbols and then destroyed the entire effect by wearing what had to be the ugliest and stupidest mustache on earth. Only clowns and comedians like Charlie Chaplain wore one, for example. I wonder if humans really want to be taken seriously.

Unfortunately, we must take them seriously. For example, we all saw on Masterpiss Theater, how the Bourbon Bushes like to summon demons and rob graves. Hitler and his ilk murdered millions of innocent humans. The existence of these fiends is why we are always so busy, fighting demons.

*sigh* This is why I keep saying, why even allow the humans to exist? Religious books the humans worship from often talk about eliminating them. One can see why.

Whoa! Wait! Man, I got to object! I like chasing chicks. Hell, human chicks are fun! What's the matter with ya? Geeze.

As a weapon, I have no idea what you are babbling about. Back to Bush. We have assembled some photographs of him and wish for some analysis. Can this man be saved from himself? (Laughing from the rest of the panel)

First, here he is, in official, posed photos. Note that in all of them, and this is only two examples, there are many more, I assure you, showing his sloppy form. Note the hand laying inert next to his diddly toy. No other mortal does this, at least at this level. He is the only one who can't sit straight up, Looking like you have to masturbate isn't very dignified.

Hell, I do things like that while lying down on the floor.

You filthy sot. I would like to crush your face into the tatami mat. And this President of the humans in America? Not a worthy opponent.

Onwards. Here is a picture from this week of Bush at a funeral. Many photographers have clicked on his face at funerals or when he is talking about the dead. He nearly always smirks or even openly laughs. Warned that this is upsetting more and more people, his handlers have attempted to try to get him to control this urge.

We don't cry at funerals.

Guardians at the Gates of Death are too dignified to cry. And I personally, would not want a laughing idiot come past here, either. We will deal with this matter in the end.

Hey, every time I try to slip some drunks past you, you draw your sword! If you had your way, Heaven would be the most boring place on earth.

Ya's right. We want to party here, not go around, spooking everyone like certain people here.

Moving on. Here is Bush praying. He is calling on his "god" whoever that is.

Since the Devil that is Death is his ultimate god, I guess it is appropriate to look like he is using the toilet.

I hope you can keep that disgusting human away from me. Understand?

On 9/11, Bush failed to protect people and many died. He then flew to NYC to stand on the still smoldering ruins that had thousands of dead bodies still buried there and not only gave a speech, but laughed and America decided to follow him mindlessly. This was called his greatest moment.

It's normal to be happy when you see things are going great. Like when we kill lots of demons. Right?

I see that idiot can't even put on a shirt properly. Or was he pretending to be working so hard, he couldn't spare five seconds for donning his garb? And the background lighting. Looks like a cheap anime about vampires. *sigh*. I suppose he and his crew thought, "New Orleans=vampires" because of all those books about that subject.

I have no personal feelings. I operate only to fulfill my function which is to bring justice to the dead. All I can say is, if humans follow fools they will fall into the abyss. Following humans in the grip of demons is dangerous. It is futile to thwart the will of Heaven. Many humans, seeking power rather than peace are following leaders who are intent on destroying the planet, killing humans, all in the name of unfettered greed, vain glory and self worship.

TURNING ON THE LIGHTS

At Atrios today, the posters were talking about the breaking news story that isn't in the news but is on a reporter's blog...hahaha, even the reporters are resorting to blogging to get the real story out...last night, when Bush was announcing the rebuilding of New Orleans using Chinese yuan, everything was brightly lit up.

I am duty-bound to report the talk of the New Orleans warehouse district last night: there was rejoicing (well, there would have been without the curfew, but the few people I saw on the streets were excited) when the power came back on for blocks on end. Kevin Tibbles was positively jubilant on the live update edition of Nightly News that we fed to the West Coast. The mini-mart, long ago cleaned out by looters, was nonetheless bathed in light, including the empty, roped-off gas pumps. The motorcade route through the district was partially lit no more than 30 minutes before POTUS drove through. And yet last night, no more than an hour after the President departed, the lights went out. The entire area was plunged into total darkness again, to audible groans. It's enough to make some of the folks here who witnessed it... jump to certain conclusions.

Pardon me while I jump.

Since Bubble Boy travels in a airtight totally protected shell, we should chain him to a lampost in New Orleans until all the lights come back on!

Change his location each day so everyone gets one day of electricity.

Then we move him to Iraq and repeat this only we know, he will not last very long there since they tend to blow up people they don't like.

Chinese President Hu Jintao and US President George W. Bush agreed here Tuesday to enhance mutual trust and cooperation and make concerted efforts to develop bilateral constructive and cooperative relations.

The two presidents held talks Tuesday afternoon right after Hu arrived here to attend the summit on the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations.

During the meeting, Hu pointed out that the two countries have made important progress in the past few years in exchanges and cooperation in bilateral and international affairs, with their common interests being increased, spheres of cooperation expanded and their cooperation basis becoming increasingly solid.

Solid as a rock. Bush asked Uncle Hu for $500 billion in loans and Uncle Hu said yes, so long as America is now a satrapy of China. So tonight's show is how the USA sold it's soul for some yuan and a cheap flat screen TV.

Barbara Bush, who accompanied the former presidents on a tour of the Astrodome complex Monday, said the relocation to Houston is "working very well" for some of the poor people forced out of New Orleans.

"What I'm hearing, which is sort of scary, is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality," she said during a radio interview with the American Public Media program "Marketplace." "And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this is working very well for them."

Mrs. Bush said Tuesday that much more human good than bad has come from the disaster, despite what people see on TV. She said the evacuees she has met in her three trips to the Gulf Coast are hopeful and thankful that they don't have to start from rock bottom because of the donations and the kindness of strangers.

"That's what I've seen at each of the shelters I've visited," she said. "I've never heard a single word of complaint."

This week, Time magazine has, not online but in hard copy right here at my desk, a story about how a Sandia Laboratories scientist was fired after he uncovered the fact that Chinese spies were successfully entering military computers and stealing all the data. Evidently, stopping this is illegal.

Ahem. Since this is just one more proof that the traitors running America are feeding the Chinese secretly, I figured, doing a cartoon will explain better than amassing tons of obvious information. Anyone imagining Hu is just chatting with Bush tonight is either hopelessly naive or brain dead or a enjoys the fruits of betrayal, too.

This reminds me of the valuable spy plane that was carefully flown to a top secret Chinese military base the first month the Manchurian Bubble Boy was installed in the White House. Normally, they try to preserve secrets by ditching the plane in the sea and committing suicide so they can't rat out the secrets.

Instead, they surrendered to the Chinese and gave them all the secrets and then, in standard Bubble Boy fashion, got medals of honor and were called "heroes" (sic). I expect Brownie to get that, too.

Heroes. Hahaha. Yup.

DeLay to evacuees: 'Is this kind of fun?'

U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay's visit to Reliant Park this morning offered him a glimpse of what it's like to be living in shelter.

While on the tour with top administration officials from Washington, including U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao and U.S. Treasury Secretary John W. Snow, DeLay stopped to chat with three young boys resting on cots.

The congressman likened their stay to being at camp and asked, "Now tell me the truth boys, is this kind of fun?"

They nodded yes, but looked perplexed.

With a group of reporters and press officers in tow, DeLay then moved on, chatting with others, including a local IRS representative. He then visited with job recruiters set up in Reliant Park.

Earlier DeLay spoke with volunteers and thanked them for their service.

"You are becoming famous all over this country and even the world," he said, adding that he's often approached by lawmakers commending Houston's response to the disaster.

Fun, fun, fun! Happy, happy. Isn't this just great? Wouldn't you just love to live in a crowded stadium and lose everything you own?

Maybe we can grant DeLay his wish. He is awash with crony deals that are pretty illegal. Arrest this man. Put him in prison. Or better yet, pen up the whole lot of them in the Super Dome for a week. With no flush toilets.

Just got this picture of Bush talking today about what he memorized last week while ignoring Cindy at his gates: his nifty WWII speech. Look at how animated he is, talking about killing SS and fighting WWII. I suspect he mixes up which SS and which war he is begetting. From the Washington Post

A one-time oilman, Bush has rejected charges that the war in Iraq is a struggle to control the nation's vast oil wealth. While Bush has avoided making links between the war and Iraq's oil reserves, the soaring cost of gasoline has focused attention on global petroleum sources.

He drilled nothing but dry wells. So it figures, his oil war produces the same results.

Indeed, more and more wells are keeling over these days, aren't they? He is to oil what Midas was to eating food.

But Democrats said Bush's leadership falls far short of Roosevelt's.

"Democratic Presidents Roosevelt and Truman led America to victory in World War II because they laid out a clear plan for success to the American people, America's allies and America's troops," said Democratic Party chairman Howard Dean. "President Bush has failed to put together a plan, so despite the bravery and sacrifice of our troops, we are not making the progress that we should be in Iraq. The troops, our allies and the American people deserve better leadership from our commander in chief."

Now for my prayer tonight before going to bed: "Dear God, I wanted Dean for President. Can we make a deal about this sometime soon? Like tomorrow? If you are the Intelligent Designer, gads....what the...grrrrr....if you foisted this stupid leader on us....all I can say is...go to hell."

Parton's live cover of "Blowin' in the Wind" should probably have been cringe-inducing, but it wasn't. Stripped down to Parton's powerful pipes and a guitar, it worked. And she definitely enunciated particular verses, especially the questions "How many ears must one man have before he can hear people cry? And how many deaths will it take till he knows that too many people have died?" Parton, who had perfect silence for the first half of the song, finished it to a massive standing ovation from the New York crowd. And however unlikely the messenger, it was almost impossible to imagine the lyrics being about anything other than a direct message to George W. Bush.

According to the news, the man singing here is "Songman Callahan" and he is singing patriotic songs attacking Cindy for putting up those crosses bearing the names of dead soldiers.

&spades He has a cross saying "million dead" so we assume this refers to the dead in all our wars, no?

&spades He should realize a million dead is an awful lot of people dead, no?

&spades He is alive. This means he hasn't made any real sacrifices.

&spades He is within the age bracket of people who could be fighting in Iraq but he is at home harrassing the Gold Star mothers who lost sons and daughters in Iraq.

&spades He is doing what they are doing, reminding people how many humans died fighting in wars.

&spades He neglected to put up a cross for the many more millions of dead civilians from just this last century's wars.

&spades You can bet, he probably did the vulture routine in Florida over the dying brain dead woman, too.

These sorts love to ape patriotism and love of life but they really hate living people and are egomaniacs with a political bent, just what the right wing screamers scream about Cindy. Typical of them to accuse their victims of doing what they do themselves.

President Bush, noting that lots of people want to talk to the president and "it's also important for me to go on with my life," on Saturday defended his decision not to meet with the grieving mom of a soldier killed in Iraq.

Bush said he is aware of the anti-war sentiments of Cindy Sheehan and others who have joined her protest near the Bush ranch.

"But whether it be here or in Washington or anywhere else, there's somebody who has got something to say to the president, that's part of the job," Bush said on the ranch. "And I think it's important for me to be thoughtful and sensitive to those who have got something to say."

"But," he added, "I think it's also important for me to go on with my life, to keep a balanced life."

The comments came prior to a bike ride on the ranch with journalists and aides. It also came as the crowd of protesters grew in support of Sheehan, the California mother who came here Aug. 6 demanding to talk to Bush about the death of her son Casey. Sheehan arrived earlier in the week with about a half dozen supporters. As of yesterday (Saturday) there were about 300 anti-war protesters and approximately 100 people supporting the Bush Administration. In addition to the two-hour bike ride, Bush's Saturday schedule included an evening Little League Baseball playoff game, a lunch meeting with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, a nap, some fishing and some reading. "I think the people want the president to be in a position to make good, crisp decisions and to stay healthy," he said when asked about bike riding while a grieving mom wanted to speak with him. "And part of my being is to be outside exercising."

On Friday, Bush's motorcade drove by the protest site en route to a Republican fund-raising event at a nearby ranch.

As Bush rolled by, Sheehan held a sign that said, "Why do you make time for donors and not for me?"

Why did America allow an open psychopath rule us? Talk about self centered. The five soldiers who were burned to death today aren't fit and well rested and focused.

President Bush collided with a local police officer and fell during a bike ride on the grounds of the Gleneagles golf resort while attending a meeting of world leaders Wednesday.

Bush suffered "mild to moderate" scrapes on his hands and arms that required bandages by the White House physician, said White House spokesman Scott McClellan. The accident occurred on asphalt, McClellan said. It was raining lightly at the time, and Bush was wearing a helmet.

Police said the officer suffered a "very minor" ankle injury.

The SS clears everyone out of the way to protect Bush...they should clear away all those protecting him, too. Obviously, he is a human hazmat zone.

This cartoon from CBS Market Watch pretty much sums up the entire American civilization. Everything else flows out of this very simple sentiment. "What I want basically, is a line of credit that will tide me over the rest of my life".

The entire country wants this for the entire existence of our country, too. Very simple, no? Eternal debt that is never due.

Inflation is running at 6% a year but the "core" is stagnant. The "core" is all those goodies we can live without. So, just as in previous contractions, this "core" sits there and rots while inflation rages all around it. Today the stock market is going up because everyone things China will obey us thanks to Bush's hot air yesterday and since inflation is ravaging only things we need, this means there isn't any inflation, what? Huh?

Today's stock market went way up because they expect the Fed to keep interest rates low despite the 6% inflation. So long as cars and computers are cheap, the Fed will hew to this off balanced standard. Of course, inflation is raging all over the place especially homes. I talked to a client today who was offered even more loans because his properties all went way up in paper value. The banks don't worry about ultimate value, everything is very much "here and now".

Inflation Pressures Ease Despite Jump in Food and Energy Costs says the NYT headlines. Oh, the joy. Time to go to the bank and get yet another loan at 5%. Everyone knows what readers here know. But knowing and understanding are two different things. If one can get richer and live better by ignoring consequences then they will happily do so. This is why having responsible people run things is so vital. Someone has to be the frowning banker who says "no".

Meanwhile,

China's industrial output rose 16% from that month a year earlier to 564.7 billion yuan ($68 billion), accelerating from March's 15.1% on-year increase.

April production had been forecast to slow to 14.6%, according to the median forecast of eight economists surveyed by Bloomberg News.

China is on a roll....

The output data released Wednesday showed April exports of industrial enterprises rose 29.9% to 379.2 billion yuan. The sales-to-production ratio, an indication of inventory levels, stood at 97.9%, 0.47 percentage points higher than the same period last year.

Exports rose 30%? In one month? Inventory levels ratios 98%? Think about this. Who has the "strong economy" here? How many more years can their end of the see saw rise while ours falls?

Just give us a lifetime credit line we will never have to repay.

Frist was buying pricey shoes beneath the offices of Americans United to Protect Social Security, and as you can imagine, protestors were quick to pounce. 40 to 50 people demonstrated against Frist's support for President Bush's plan to privatize Social Security and -- according to the group -- slash benefits for middle-class families. A spokesperson for Senator First responded by saying "...despite the protesters' claims, the President's plan does not cut benefits. Perhaps the protesters would do better to pay attention to the facts than Senator Frist's shoes." On a side note, the Senator received a parking ticket because his SUV was illegally parked.

Legislator calls for killing ex-nuclear minister if he's not returned to Russia

A legislator from a political party known for its attention-grabbing, bellicose antics suggested in a parliament session Thursday that if Russia is unable to get the former atomic energy minister returned home, he should be eliminated.

The ex-minister, Yevgeny Adamov, has been detained in Switzerland on a U.S. warrant accusing him of diverting up to US$9 million (─7.08 million) from funds intended to improve Russian nuclear security. Some Russians have expressed concern that he could be forced to divulge state secrets.

Sergei Abeltsev, a member of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, said that if it were impossible to get Adamov repatriated, the secret services should be ordered "to eliminate the nuclear businessman."

After a long pause, lower house Speaker Boris Gryzlov said: "We'll discuss it."

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told the session that the government was making efforts to free Adamov, but he declined to elaborate.

Sounds like he could give Bolton a run for his money.
